Driving instructions:
Please read all of these options.
Fortunately Touffailles sits in the corner of 4 maps and therefore gives good coverage in 1/25,000 scale. You can buy these maps on-line at http://www.stanfords.co.uk/ or www.ign.fr .
The maps are by the French map maker IGN and are in their “series blue”. The numbers of these maps are as follows - 1940 E, 1939 E, 2040 O and 2039 O (O=west). Don’t forget your large Michelin road atlas.
There are two main routes to Touffailles.
1st via Calais and 2nd via St. Malo.
From Calais
Calais is 934km journey and requires a disciplined driving or plan yourself an overnight at on of the many F1 Hotels which are across France.
Find your way to the A20 (SE of Orleans) and head due south for J57 or J58.
If you are arriving in the dark or have had a difficult journey come off at J57 and skirt around Cahors and head for Montcuq on the D653. From Montcuq the SatNavs will direct you via Lauzerte.
If you plenty of time, just allow the SavNav to bring you off at J58 and head due west across rural France until you also will find yourself at Lauzerte.
(We use a TomTom out of interest)
From Lauzerte it is 9km to Touffailles and the last part of the directions are easy especially with the photos we have supplied.
1
As you approach Touffailles (from the south) you will pass the village sign.
2
At the 30Km sign check the road and move to the centre and take a right and right. Coming back on yourself.
3
After 100m on the first left hairpin bend go straight on to the left of the “CRUZEL” sign.
From St. Malo (or any north coast port)
St. Malo is a 710km journey and is a much more relaxed affair. But do keep an eye on the time.Find your way down the west coast of France to Bordeaux. From here use the A62 to J8 and then use the D953 to Lauzerte.
From Lauzerte it is 9km to Touffailles and the last part of the directions are easy especially with the photos we have supplied.
