After a week driving around France Cruzel has been the perfect place to relax. Many thanks to Steve and Edite for providing the perfect blend of helpfulness without intrusiveness. All facilities especially the pool were ideal. Visits to Cahors, Lauzerte, Montcuq and Moissac were all great fun. We ate well usually inexpensively in them all. Lunch in Auberge in Miramont de Quercy is very good. The menus du midi/jour near the Abbey at Moissac is worth trying and the Abbey cloisters are unmissible., as is the Sunday market at Montcuq. We hope to be back soon. Maybe with the 2CV. One word of caution finding lunch after 1pm is very difficult. David and Gwen.

Kiltos, thank you, for sharing your home with us strangers and making us feel welcomed and relaxed. Loved the pool, the gite, the area and what it has to offer. It’s been a pleasure staying here the week and experiencing so much. (Castlesarassin, Montegue, Lauzerte, St Moran, vineyards ecc). Thank you for the interesting conversations about all and nothing. For the help with the bee sting and splinters, not forgetting the whisky. Whether you seek lazy days or fun paced adventure Cruzel offers the perfect place to explorer Cathar country. A huge thank you to Steve and Edite for both their hospitality and wisdom for what has been unforgettable week. We would recommend the local markets, the walk in the Touffailles valley and the fresh bread. Ask Edite to put the sauna on and take a dip in the pool and get Steve to point the way to the secret cave. Well done reader for finding Cruzel a gem of a gite looking up at the beautiful stars. A fantastic week for the whole family. The boys loved the football and table tennis and we all loved the pole. Good days out were the market at Montcuq, Lauzerte and the night market at St Moran. All in all a very successful holiday with good weather made it a bit more special by the fantastic hospitality by Steve and Edite. Your welcoming attitude and good advice makes all the difference Richard, Joanna, Daniel & Mathew

What a wonderful week, from the moment we arrived to be met by very welcome drinks, to the moment we left next stop. Steve and Edite could not be more hospitable and were the icing on the cake. Beautiful stop, perfect villa, great hosts. Thank you Jo, Jonathan, Tobby & Ali. Pole, Dorset

Reluctantly reaching the end of our wonderful week here this week has been about stopping and catching up with ourselves, and we seem to have stumbled across somewhere that has allowed us to do just that. A huge thank you to Steve & Edite for being such warm hosts, for your ready advice for where to go and what to see, and for the site hung-over following the night of wine tasting together! An amazing week, thank you Hannah & Darren
6th-13th August 2011
We arrived to be welcomed by apperceives by Steve & Edite. They have been wonderful host making us feel most welcome. We have stayed in many gites over the years, but have never met such passionate good willed and genuine concerned from the owners. The accommodation has been excellent and the pool wonderful. We have explored the area by bike and can particularly recommend the trip to Braisac Bourg de Visa and home 20miles in great countryside with virtually no cars. The canal ride in Moisac is also very pleasant in the Toulouse direction. Moissac itself and its Abbey is also worth a visit. We enjoyed the night market, gourmet food, more fun the gourmet. Lauzerte also worth a visit good supermarket & cheap petrol. Thanks to our host once again. Chris & Catriona Herbert Ipswich, Suffolk

We have just enjoyed an idealist timeless 3 weeks in Cruzel. Enjoying the beautiful old house the wonderful pool and the sunbathed terrace were we eat each day overlooking the valley and nearby woods. Steve and Edite could not have been more welcoming and generous in providing everything we needed and sharing their knowledge of the area which is rich and alive with mediaeval villages, beautiful countryside and excellent affordable places to eat. Steve & Edite also make you feel special & important to them not just as holiday visitors but as people they are keen to know and engage with. This is an extra, unexpected and enriching dimension to the visit here. We enjoyed celebratory Bastille night with the citizens of the Lauzerte, the craft shops around the abbey in Moissac, a stunning dinner in Dausse, lunch in Miramont de Quercy, wandering through Penne de Agene , St Cirque Lapopie & bargain hunting in the local markets. This our first visit but most certainly not the last. Loretta & Ciaran Crumlin NI

We booked very late, just 4/5days before we left. We received much help from Steve & Edite prior to arriving and much more while we were here. Such a lovely family with the lifestyle to be envied in this wonderful area, brilliant home and gites. Could not speak more highly of our hosts or the area. We came away for a well needed rest and what we found was the very best-the hideaway gite with perfect hosts. Steve & Edite you really can boost that your home is wonderful and so are you. We cannot thank you enough for what you did. Love and happiness I am sending your way hoping we will meet again another day. Lesley & John Ravenscroft

Wonderful gites and great host. The pool is great after a morning of site seeing. Best day visiting Chateau de Banaquil in Fumel, best meal at auberge Les Ban Enfant-meal of the day. Cahors was well worth the drive and a wonderful part of France

What a wonderful find, very comfortable accommodation, warm and friendly hosts who helped us so much with what to see or where to go. The lovely pool and BBQ were very much appreciated in the exceptional l weather. Places to go, Cahors and the tiny train followed by tea water edge drink at St Cirq Lapopie, Lazerte, Moissac, Chateau de Banaquil and so many more. Excellent meals-the one in the covered cloister in Moissac under the tree, Le Royalty in Fumel serves the most amazing salads. Meals at the Belvedier are excellent, service a bit slow. We loved our time here. Pat Archer & Pam Jackson Victoria BC Canada

We arrived Sunday evening just as you had started your
dinner. Within 2min we were sat down with you eating and drinking. What a
welcome. You are the perfect hosts so kind and considerate. Although we have
travelled over most of France
this is the first time we have visited the region and we have enjoyed it very
much, the gite and wonderful swimming pool are ideally located and we plan to
return.
Best wishes to you Steve and Edite. You cannot be anything
but successful hear.

Thank you Steve & Edite for such a lovely, relaxing 2 weeks in your gite. We were made very
welcome and you both so helpful & informative.
The pool and it’s setting is fantastic! We were not sure
what to expect from the salt water pool, but it is amazing. Such a lovely view
& the gardens & surrounding land is beautiful. We have done a lot of
driving around whilst here (Millau, Toulouse,
Bordeaux) but its always a place to
arrive back “home” here in the evenings! Jane & Richard (Thanks Steve for all your moto related
info to Richard) I have had a great holiday here it was really hot! (some
days) But the best bit it has to be the horse riding. I went cross-country which
was so exiting! The people were so nice and friendly( spoke good English!) I
also went on a hack & saw some beautiful scenery. Thank you so much! Maddie

A week at this lovely place just isn’t enough! Beautiful
area, lovely equipped gite & pool and helpful, kind and considerate hosts
Edite and Steve.
Having visited this area before we knew roughly what to
expect, but Touffailles is truly a little gem of tranquillity and cam, just
what we need for perfect relaxing holiday. Hope to return again.
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us, as well as
the tasty veg, free range eggs and fresh herbs!!

Thank you Steve and Editefor being such kind and considered hosts for the London
family very much in need of some fresh air, peace and relaxation! We loved the
gite , the pool gloriously quiet and unspoiled local area-and our children had
an absolute ball! We couldn’t have asked for a better rest and break from it
all. Thank you both!

Thanks to Edite & Stephen for the past two weeks at
Cruzel have been delightful and spell of charm. Peace and quiet except the
fete) competed with the wonderful weather-what more can one ask for? The
ancients certainly knew what they were on to a good thing around here! This
visit was a brilliant taster of SW France for us.

Thank you Steve & Editefor a wonderful 2 weeks at Cruzel. Your welcome was second to none, and
we really appreciate your friendliness and assistance in making us feel at home
and relaxed straight away.
The gite is superb and the pool is amazing. Didn’t get to
use the sauna-it was just so hot!
Managed to see beautiful red deer
in the fields and a squirrel scampering across the roof of the main house. The
sunflowers were starting just to come out in our second week. We were grateful
for two chimes from the church bells across the valley, but we pleased that
they stopped at midnight.
What can we say? It was wonderful to explore such peaceful and
tranquil countryside
with warms and friendliness from the locals- especially
enjoyed the square at Lauzerte and the view from the terrace at the hotel Belvedere
near Lauzerte. Just loved it!thanks,

This has been our second visit to Cruzel which meant we were
able to slip into holiday mode as soon as we got here.
Once again everything fell into place and we have enjoyed ourselves
as much if not more than last year- the weather, hospitality, tranquillity ,
scenery, wildlife and relaxed pace of life, all helped. As did the pool, the
food and the wine! Roll on next year….

Left my overnight stop in Vatan early on Saturday and had an
unhurried drive to Bergerac to collect Les Enfants. Without the sat nav the
drive through the middle of Bergerac, with the market in full swing, was very exiting.
Toulouse was a
super day out and I could have spent many more hrs wondering around the paved
streets browsing in the boutiques.
Following Edites advice we all took a trip out to the market
at Montquc. The array of stalls, selling such a variety of things was a
delight.
Cahors made a useful diversion on one very rainy day-we
bought umbrellas at the market then found them chipper in a little boutique.
Just for the joy of it, we visited Domain des Boulbene and
spent a merry hour sampling and selecting wines to take with us. Our French isn’t
good and they spoke no English , but we understood each other just fine by the
time we left. Edite & Steve, thank you

Steve’s & Edites gite was just what I imagined-no
surprises (what you often get). However one surprise was the fantastic pool and
view down the valley. The other was how helpful Steve & Edite have been.
They have helped us get to know the area, the locals and the tennis court! I will
be back to enjoy this place again. I hope everybody we meet in France
in future is as nice as this couple.

This is a superb gite with the fantastic pool, great views and the best welcome anybody could wish for. There is so much to do that you really can spent one week here without ever leaving Touffailles. However for me the best thing is attention to detail and the fact that nothing is too much trouble. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it for extra days. We will miss Cruzel very much and warmly recommend it to everybody. Thank you and hope to see you next year. Thank you Steve & Edite for a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable 10 days. The peace, tranquillity and hospitality have revived as after a busy few months in Africa/India. You have been incredible hosts, thank you for taking us to some nearby beautiful villages, great ride in your cars and late night station pick up. We so loved our evenings with you, discussing life over good glass of wine. Thank you Edite for the fresh veggies from the garden, delicious! You are both very special people, thank you for sharing your place in paradise with us. We hope to see you in the future after next mission. Lots of love Sam & Jonathan

What a beautiful place...Simply perfect! Every detail has been thought of. Fantastic location, tranquil and stunning views. Pool was where we spent the long summer afternoons and evening even taking in the occasional sauna, now that something you don’t get everywhere! Steve and Edite are great hosts. after the week I feel as though they are the part of the family and of course there is Charley....As well as spending time at the pool have visited some great medieval villages that are straight out of a story book and eaten at the great restaurants (Miramont and Bouville). All in all adding up to a great holiday and would defiantly come back! Kathrin, Andrew and Becky Thorpe. Yorkshire, Uk.
20th-27th June, 2009. Wow, what a surprise! After a long journey from Calais through the night we arrived at the gite and this beautiful village which would be our house for the next week. We were so surprised at the size of the place; Steve your website does not do it a justice! It’s certainly a home from home with everything we need for a perfect holiday. Steve and Edite have been perfect hosts and Charley the cat has been brilliant entertainment for Elise! The pool and sauna are ace for lazy afternoons and the table tennis, badminton and tennis courts are ideal for more energetic afternoons and evenings! It has been a perfect holiday, we will really miss Touffailles and we will definitely be back!

20th27th June,2009 Every once in a while the holiday comes along that stays with you. Our thanks for this go to Steve and Edite, the surrounding landscape, the weather, the wildlife, the views from the terrace at Cruzel, the swimming pool the cats, the tranquillity, the bakery in the village and much more. This week has been a real eye-opener-finding such a tourist free corner of France has been a pleasant surprise. It’s also been a great opportunity to catch up with our friends Steve and Edite. We want to come back.

18th-25th April, 2009. Cruzel is in a beautiful location and both gites are very comfortable and well equipped. Edite and Steve gave us a warm welcome to their home and nothing was too much trouble for them. We only had time to visit a few of the beautiful villages and towns nearby, but we found that every place visited had an interesting history. Further afield but still within easy reach we visited Londes and Carcassonne. Margaret and |Fred Friend.
We had a fantastic stay at \Cruzel.The gite is beautiful and had everything we needed, even for our 20 month old daughter (Matty). We had excellent day trips to Cahors and local towns like Lauzerte ........ Excellent meal at Bouville. All the staff at the gite for Matty like the high chair, travel cot all worked very well. She particularly enjoyed meeting (and harassing) Charley the cat! Steve and Edite are excellent hosts-thank you! Great holiday. Edmund, Hermone and Matty Friend.
7th-17th April, 2009
What a lovely Easter break. We have enjoyed exploring the basted villages particularly Montjoi, Monflanquein and Castelsagrat. Other interesting days were spent at Bonaguil Castle and the Froies Gras museum/farm. We had two lovely meals at L’Auberge de Miramont. The gite was great. Our boys enjoyed the tennis, games and would love to come again to go in the pool-it was a bit chilly this early in the year. We all liked getting warm in the sauna in the evening though. Touffailles is a beautiful peaceful place and we will miss the sounds of the birds and frogs and those beautiful sunsets. We didn’t find any of those bears though, maybe next time. Thanks Steve and Edite Jan, Derek, Phil and Edward Jones. Princes Risborough, Bucks, UK.
